Decking the Halls at Orrion Farms

Brad Vancour

Each October, the employees of Orrion Farms (a world-renowned Arabian Horse Breeding Farm owned by Dolly Orr located in Ellensburg, Washington) begin the arduous task of stringing up over 150,000 Christmas lights for the holiday season; a labor intensive ritual that dates back to 1999. From that year to this, the day following Thanksgiving brings the “Orrion Lights” to life, a popular attraction in central Washington that can be seen from miles away.

“We have shared the lights with young school kids, Central Washington University students, and residents of retirement homes,” says owner Dolly Orr. “We love having the opportunity to spread cheer to both the local community and beyond.”

Unbeknownst to most of the parade of admirers, however, is that the outdoor light show may be trumped by the indoor decorations within the Sales Center Arena and Main Residence. Everywhere you look the spirit of the holidays is on display. From the 20-foot Christmas tree in the Sales Center to the trio of Black trees trimmed with Crystal and Silver in the main house:

In today’s fast-paced and technological world, it’s a pleasure to know that there are people willing to go the extra mile to make something as beautiful as the “Orrion Lights” happen.

Over the weekend, Realogics Sotheby’s International Realty Broker Brad Vancour brought his family and a few close friends to a private holiday gathering at the property. “Although it was a little foggy and snowing when we exited off I-90 in Thorp, we could see the twinkling lights of Orrion Farm 7 miles to the South,” said Brad Vancour. “It was a truly spectacular sight.”

The evening began with a private horse show of the farm’s top Arabian Horses (with lineage to National Champions), festive drinks and a sit-down dinner party.

Following dinner, guests swam in the indoor pool and used the spa before indulging in a late-night showing of a locally produced film in the movie theatre room. The following morning began with a fabulous breakfast prepared by Dolly complete with her famous beef hash potato mix and eggs. The end to the perfect weekend? The 38 to 7 Seattle Seahawks victory over the Minnesota Vikings, enjoyed in truly unparalleled fashion at Orrion Farms.

The property was recently reduced in price to $9.8M. Learn more about this extraordinary offering >>

Cave B Private Villa Featured on Curbed Seattle

Brad Vancour

I am excited to share that my Cave B Private Villa is featured on Curbed Seattle today! This stunning Columbia River View Estate is just 2 hours east of Seattle by car via I-90; or under 30 minutes by air to Quincy Municipal Airport just 6 miles away.  Located on an isolated plot within the renown Cave B Estate Winery and Resort, this special home has sweeping panoramic gorge, cliff and valley views which the founders of the Resort specifically chose for their own personal residence. The actual home site was carved out by nature some 40 feet below the ridge line which towers 900 feet above the Columbia River. The views are truly breathtaking!

The 8.55 acre property and 4200 sf of living space is located within the heart of Cave B  Estate Winery & Resort; one of Washington State’s best known Wineries and recreational areas including the World Famous Gorge Amphitheater which is consistently voted one of the top outdoor Concert Venues in the US. The 300 acre Cave B Resort was chosen both for its natural drama and beauty, but also for its amazing growing conditions for premium wine grapes.  The latitude and soil conditions are similar to the great grape growing regions of  Europe, making this Washington location a very special place.

MISTY ISLE FARMS FEATURED ON EVENING MAGAZINE’S “UNREAL ESTATE”

Brad Vancour

On June 23, Misty Isle Farms was featured on Evening Magazine‘s “Unreal Estate.” As Vancour told King 5’s Eric A Riddle, “to be this close to Seattle and have a 500 acre property, this is pretty rare.” The segment covered a couple of in-home highlights, the 80 square foot shower area and the state-of-the-art climatized wine cellar, before discussing the true value of the property: the land. As Vancour described, Misty Isle Farms boasts unparalleled landscaping with 3,000 varieties of trees and rose types, numerous man-made water features (one of which is 3 acres), 8 miles of bike and horse trails, two PGA standard golf greens and a driving range, a private runway, and plenty of space for horses or cattle.

As the segment ended, Vancour told Evening Magazine, “you’ve got it all here. You’ve got your own sanctuary,” apropos given the sheer grandeur of Misty Isle Farms.

Misty Isle Farms has also received other attention from the media, as it previously was voted “Home of the Week” on the Puget Sound Business Journal and was also featured in Sotheby’s International Realty’s Perspectives.
